Ovaries Transplantation: Menopause and Pregnancy At Your Wish

Women would be able to have pregnancy even after menopause and whenever they want. Ovaries transplantation would help women to get pregnant after menopause.

Three cases of ovaries transplantations have been remarkably successful. Three women who had ovaries transplantation gave birth to 7 babies naturally.

The transplantation is believed to be major breakthrough in human reproduction. It will give flexibility to a woman about when she wants to get pregnant, just like fertility pill.

In first case of the three cases, reproductive tissues of a woman were stored and planted in same woman later. In two cases ovaries were tranplanted. Ovaries were taken from identical twin to avoid any possible rejection.

The technology not only provides flexibility on time of pregnancy but added an option for women to prevent menopause and delay pregnancy. Ovaries are believed to remain effective till seven years.

Stinne Holm Bergholt was diagnosed bone cancer and was recommended to undergo chemotherapy. Since chemotherapy severely damages fertility, ovaries of Stinne was taken off before cacner treatment. The ovaries were then transplanted back into her.

Chemotherapy leaves patients with severe side effects. It can significantly change patients’ lives after treatment, specially in women.

Dr Sherman Silber of Infertility Centre of St Louis, Missouri is the author of the research study. Result of the study has been online at Reproductive Biomedicine Online. A plan is being mulled over by British authorities to offer women (in their twenties) to store and freez their ovaries to be used on later date.

Embryos Growth Could Pedict Risk In Pregnancy

Scientists have found link between miscarriages and overall growth of embryo in the 12-14 weeks of pregnancy, which leads two ways to have treat such tragedies.

A study found around 80 percent of embryos pregnant women who concluded with miscarriages involved fetus with restricted growth in the session of 3 moths.

This study will predict those mothers at risks.

Dr. Shyamaly Sur stated as in Daily Express that restrict growth in embryos in early stage of pregnancy would relate to subsequent miscarriage.

This system will ensure those pregnancies at risk of miscarriage . The team measured the length, more then 500 single and twin embryos conceived through IVF during the first 12 week of pregnancy, a study revealed .
In Vitro Fertilisation ( IVF ) mothers could determine the exact gestational age. The baby’s full length from top to bottom was recorded from ultrasound scan.

Researchers found that 78 percent of single embryos pregnancies which miscarried were growth restricted, where as 98 percent of those haven’t miscarry were not growth stunted. Only 29 percent of poor growth leads to miscarriages.

Abnormality of the fetus or something in the environment of womb could be the reason as to why embryos show restricted growth in early stage of pregnancy. A study is going on to investigate miscarriages more in detail.

FDA Safety Warning: Blood Clot Risk with Drospirenone Contraceptives

FDA has issued safty notice for women who are taking drospirenone birth control pills. Can Girl become Pregnant Even Before First Period?
YES. A girl can get pregnant even before her first period.

Teen pregnancy in ever growing now a days. Recent article on DailyMail.co.uk reported Colombian girl of age 10 got pregnant.

A prevailing belief (a misbelief rather) is that a girl who has not had her first period cannot get pregnant even with unprotected sex. That is completely wrong. The only relation between period, sex and pregnancy is having sex before period increases likelihood of pregnancy. Pre period time is most fertile time for having kids. Indications of pregnancy if no-period are after having sex, spotting and bleeding

What is Period?

Period is shedding of skin membrane located inside vagina. The skin membrane is medically known as endometrium. This occurs every month. Some females have irregular period.

First period of a girl is called Menarche. Menarche is indication of capability of reproduction for girls and ejaculation for boys.

What age a girl has period?

Average age of having first period is 12-13. But in some cases period has been reported quite early age. A Peruvian girl had her first period at age 3.

As long as pregnancy is concerned period is just highly fertile time. So what causes pregnancy? Ovulation is key process for pregnancy.

What is Ovulation?

Ovulation is about producing female egg. Ovary releases egg, those eggs pass in the fallopian tube to be fertilized. The eggs get fertilized by male cells called sperm. A girl may not have first period but, she might already be ovulating. If ovulation is there girl of any age can get pregnant.

How Does Pregnancy Occur?

Ejaculation by male within vagina is first step of pregnancy. Sperm fertilizes female eggs located within fallopian tube (generally known as vagina). Sperm cells can stay inside vagina for upto five days. So, sex five days before and after ovulation can make girl pregnant.

HIV Infection Treatment During Pregnancy

What can be done to help prevent HIV infection during pregnancy? Many couple are worried about this situation. If not worried for them self then for their coming child. Most latest research study says treating HIV during pregnancy is good for both mother and child.

A research study concluded that taking HIV medicines during pregnancy by HIV positive (and Hepatitis C Virus or HCV) woman reduces risk of transmitting both HIV and hepatitis virus to baby. This is quite relieving result for women who are HIV positive and also pregnant. The study result presented at Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections, Seattle, America. read study details here.

HIV Pregnancy Treatment

ARV therapy or Antiretroviral therapy (anti HIV drugs are called antiRetroviral drugs) reduces Mother-to-child transmission of HIV virus. In past, research studies on mother to child transmission, showed that 19% babies born with HCV to mother infected with both HIV and HCV viruses. 2% to 5% babies born with HCV to mother with HCV infection only. It is not known whether modern HIV treatment prevents MTCT for HCV virus. Past studies on transmission of virus to child from mother were conducted when ARV therapy was not widely used in women with HIV and HCV viruses.

The study has been conducted by Dr Claudia Checa Cabot and her team members. Dr Cabot is an MD at National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD). Treating HIV infection in women with hepatitis C and HIV virus may reduce transmission of both viruses in baby.

Dr Cabot took data from another study conducted between 2002 to 2008 called 'Perinatal and Longitudinal Study in Latin American Countries'.

Simple Way To Prevent Unintended Pregnancy

World Contraception day was on 22nd March. Many women in US is concerned on access to birth control contraception pills. Scientists have found feasible way to address the issue. They have found trivial change which would bring drastic change in unwanted pregnancy in USA.

Most of the health coverage in USA allow 3 months supply of contraceptive pills. Supply for more than 3 months won't be included in health coverage insurance plan. A study published on Obstetrics & Gynecology demonstrated that prescription of birth control pill for more than 3 months would significantly bring consistency in women to continue their birth control plan.

A research study conducted at New York family planning clinic proved that women are more likely to continue to take birth control pills if they are given long lasting supply of contraceptive pills. The research included 661 women of different ages. All the women were given option to go for 3 months supply or 7 months supply. 51% of women who opted 7 months supply had continued the pills after 6 months. And only 35% women of 3 months supply continued. This is not startling fact, in fact it is common sense. However, statistical data that back the claim is necessary to bring changes in insurance policy.

The reason of 3 months supply limit is that a pregnant women take visit to physician and that physician can know any sort of developing complications or side effects of the pill. However, the limit is seem to be problem as women stop taking pills when they run out of the pills.
