Pistachio Linked With Obesity and Heart Disease

Pistachio is traditionally used in Indian cookery, for garnishing in savory and sweet dishes, for there typical flavor.  However they have health benefits which are not very well known. A research study has already proved that Pistachio helps treat erectile dysfunction.

Pistachios are cholesterol free and can be used to lower the cholesterol. They can also be used against high blood pressure and do have cardio protective ability. In order to maintain a good health and treating several disorders Pistachio can be helpful due to its bioactive constituents, fatty acid profile and nutrients properties. Also there are evidences that it can delay ageing, improve vision and prevent cancer.

There is 90% unsaturated fat in Pistachio and 55% MUFA – mono-saturated fatty acids, which are good for health. It is can reduce the bad and increase the good cholesterol levels. Reduction of heart disease and improvement in lipid profiles occur if Pistachios are included in the diet. In a STEP 1 National cholesterol Education program – NECP, when 45g-90g Pistachios were added per day in the diet it resulted in 9%-12% reduction in bad cholesterol.

When 90g were added to diet, there was an increase in good cholesterol in women.

If Pistachios are added to the diet it has good effect on the blood lipids and can protect coronary artery disease via Vasodialtion. Where in it stops the adhesion and aggregation of Platelet and protect us from Angina and Atherosclerosis.

It is rich in Phystosterols and natural substance called antioxidants, which can delay ageing and fight disease that includes:

1) Carotenoids: Lutein and Zeaxanthin 2) Tocopherols: precursor for Vitamin E 3) Beta-carotene: precursor for vitamin A, 4) Flavanoids, 5) Selenium.

Carotenoids help to protect retina degeneration and preventing strokes and heart attacks. The cancer preventing antioxidants are Tocopherols, polyphenols, Selenium, dietary fiber and Lutein.

Pistachio is also good for potassium, fiber and protein. Like other nut trees it is rich in Arginine which is an amino acid and had heart disease preventing abilities. Neurotransmitter synthesis in the brain is done by the amino acid and hence helps in controlling the addictive vibes and depression.

A recent study also asserts that Pistachios can control the body sugar and prevent problems due to Diabetes.
It is also good in weight reduction cause OEA – Oleoylethanolamide, can make you feel less hungry. Also is nuts are used in addition with the low calorie diet it will have well and longer effect on the obese people when they are improving sensitivity over insulin. Hence Pistachio is nutrient food for weight losers.

Astrocytes Identified as Depression Therapy

23rd Jan 2013, Tufts University’s neuroscience researchers, found that the Astrocytes, that is the star shape brain cell, can be helpful to improve the mood in patients who were depressed due to sleep deprivation. It was identified in vivo study that how this astrocytes controls a Neuro- Transmitter related to sleep. The researchers say that this finding can help in developing drug which is fast and effective to cure depression, especially in emergencies.

The drugs that are used to fight depression take weeks to show their effect. But sleep deprivation has proved in 60 percent patients immediately effective in most of depression disorders. However it is not long lasting and uncomfortable for patients.

The research was verified in 1970, that the sleep deprivation is effective against depression. Rapid eye sleep movement deprivation mainly. However the brain mechanism was that was underlying was not known.
We have known more about brains because of neurons, but glia is another cell which is ignored. Glia is thought historically as neurons support cell. Phil Haydon group, Tufts University School of Medicine, showed that Astrocytes, a type of Glia in animal model, affects the behavior.

Haydon group has previously found that astrocytes controls sleep deprivation response by the release of neutral-transmitters which controls the neurons. The sleep wake cycle is affected by this neuron regulation activity. Adenosine receptors in neurons are the one specifically acted. Adenosine is sleep inducing chemical.
The time that we are awake, Adenosine gets accumulated and the urge to sleep increases, this called as sleep pressure. Adenosine receptor antagonists are chemicals like caffeine and they keep us awake. But on the contrary adenosine receptor agonist will make you sleepy.

Dustin Hines, First author, Ph.D., post-doctoral fellow, department of neuroscience, Tufts University School of Medicine said that, in the study we gave 3 doses of adenosine receptor agonist was given to the mice in a night which was sleep deprivation equivalent. The mice were sleeping normally but the adenosine levels were not reduced sufficiently because of the sleep, this mimicked the sleep deprivation effect.  Just after 12 hours they found that the depressive symptoms were decreased in the mice and adenosine was increased in the brain, this was maintained for 48 hours.

By controlling the astrocytes we could mimic the sleep deprivation effects on symptoms like depression, which can give an improved behavior faster and longer time.

For developing and researching an anti-depressant drug, to understand the astrocytic signal and adenosine role, is vital. The drugs based on this research help can provide fast relief in psychiatric emergency and chronic depression symptoms elevated for longer span, as quoted by Naomi Rosenberg, Ph.D., Dean and Vice Dean for, Sackler School of Graduate Biomedical Sciences, Tufts University School of Medicine respectively. The next course of action of the team would be to check if there are any other receptors and that too can affect.

Weight Loss Surgery Helps Avoid Heart Disease in Youngsters

Level of good cholesterol bettered in teens than in adults. Found in a clinical study.
A new study revealed that teen that underwent gastric bypass surgery (Roux-en-Y) had healthier heart condition than adults with same surgery. Cardiac risk factors were seen lower in youngsters than in adults.
Roux-en Y is a type of gastric bypass surgery. New route is created near bowel so that food can bypass small intestine. This way it reduces capacity of stomach.

The study included evaluation of heart health of total 132 patients who had had laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass in 2004 and 2010. Of them, 99 were adults and 33 were teens of age between 14-18 years. The study was due to represent at Digestive Disease Week conference in Chicago.

The researchers of bariatric surgery department at Stanford University reported hypertension, high cholesterol level and breathing problem during sleep (known as sleep apnea) in almost 66 patients before surgery.

All the patients were examined one year after the surgery. Level of cholesterol, homocysteine and triglycerides had improved in both teens and adults. Level of homocysteine is used to determine risk of cardiovascular events.

However, checkup concluded more improvement in young patients. Level of high density lipoprotein was higher than level in adults. More surprisingly developing insulin resistance lowered by 400% within the time of one year.

The study clearly indicated that having done gastric bypass surgery can be good for obese teens. More and more evidence on what triggers heart diseases are coming to the fore. Dedicated efforts must be made before it is too late to act.

Authors also delivered word of caution that surgery should only be considered when obesity pose life threatening conditions and patient fail to respond exercise along with weight loss medicines such as generic Acomplia or Alli.

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation For Treating Depression

Psychiatrist usually recommends not taking mental disorders lightly. Disorders such as depression should be treated or it may result in severe form.

Depression can ruin one’s life as depressed person cannot concentrate on work or study, feel sorrow, worried without valid reason to worry and no lost interest in activities.

Severe or chronic depression is something one cannot get rid of easily. Depression is like diabetes, patient just can’t drop sugar level by just following steps given in book. Depression requires proper drug treatment along with psychotherapy.

Dr James Barbee, a psychiatrist in New Orleans, is using new method to treat depression. The method is called TMS ot Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation.

In this therapy, magnetostatic fields of particular intensity or frequency are aimed at prefrontal cortex for 37mins. Prefrontal cortex is part of brain located on left hand side. Dysfunction of that area of brain causes depression, proven in research study. Targeting this area of brain brings changes mood.

This new therapy is proof that depression is not problem of personality, but, is a dysfunction of part of the brain.

Brain image taken after the therapy showed remarkable changes in brain. The part of brain, which regulates concentration; decision and emotions, reported to be more active than before the therapy.

Barbee says at times he’ll ask patients if they’re feeling any better, and they don’t notice a difference.
Relatives found patient jollier and more expressive. Dr Barbee has said he would periodically ask patients whether they feel better and signs of improvement.

Dr Barbee, keeping outcome of therapy in mind, compares new treatment to powerful anti depressant drug, Prozac. depression drugs

Half of the total number of patients who received this therapy from Dr Barbee have experinced significant improvement.

Obesity Raises Odds Of Acne in Teenagers

A non medical study found that for teen age overweight girls chances double to have acne than girls with normal weight. The study was conducted in teenagers of Norway. But that same is not applicable to boys.
The study collected data of pimples, regular diet and weight from youngsters of age 18 to 19. This means connection between weight gain and acne develops in last stage of teen age. 18-19 is last stage of puberty and age at which puberty start is 11.

Examination of BMI (Body Mass Index) showed that 10th of girls and 15% of the boys were found to be obese. Although, more boys were overweight, acne was less as compare to girls.

Nineteen obese girls out of 100 said to have developed severe acne in last couple of week of their puberty. 13 girls with normal weight developed acne.

Along with weight information, researchers also took other factors into consideration such as stress, diet and smoking. Checking all the factors to acne development, extra weight was found to be more influential for acne break out.

14 of 100 boys had acne regardless of their BMI. blood pressure drugs and ed

According to experts 10%-20% teens develop acne. Studies in past have attributed acne break out to emotional and social issues normally faced by every teenagers.

The rate at which youngsters becoming overweight, and impact of being obese or having acne on social life, promoted Norwegian researchers to inspect link between. Stated in Archives of Dermatology.
According to Dr Nanette Silverberg physiological factors of obesity well describe the result of the study. Dr. Silverberg happens to be director of pediatric and adolescent dermatology department at St. Luke's and also a clinical professor at University of Columbia.

Obesity has been held responsible for causing hypertension, diabetes medicine and heart disease. That is the reason Dr Silverberg believes that diabetes, hormonal changes and hypertension could be an influential factor for acne.

Ovaries Transplantation: Menopause and Pregnancy At Your Wish

Women would be able to have pregnancy even after menopause and whenever they want. Ovaries transplantation would help women to get pregnant after menopause.

Three cases of ovaries transplantations have been remarkably successful. Three women who had ovaries transplantation gave birth to 7 babies naturally.

The transplantation is believed to be major breakthrough in human reproduction. It will give flexibility to a woman about when she wants to get pregnant, just like fertility pill.

In first case of the three cases, reproductive tissues of a woman were stored and planted in same woman later. In two cases ovaries were tranplanted. Ovaries were taken from identical twin to avoid any possible rejection.

The technology not only provides flexibility on time of pregnancy but added an option for women to prevent menopause and delay pregnancy. Ovaries are believed to remain effective till seven years.

Stinne Holm Bergholt was diagnosed bone cancer and was recommended to undergo chemotherapy. Since chemotherapy severely damages fertility, ovaries of Stinne was taken off before cacner treatment. The ovaries were then transplanted back into her.

Chemotherapy leaves patients with severe side effects. It can significantly change patients’ lives after treatment, specially in women.

Dr Sherman Silber of Infertility Centre of St Louis, Missouri is the author of the research study. Result of the study has been online at Reproductive Biomedicine Online. A plan is being mulled over by British authorities to offer women (in their twenties) to store and freez their ovaries to be used on later date.

Embryos Growth Could Pedict Risk In Pregnancy

Scientists have found link between miscarriages and overall growth of embryo in the 12-14 weeks of pregnancy, which leads two ways to have treat such tragedies.

A study found around 80 percent of embryos pregnant women who concluded with miscarriages involved fetus with restricted growth in the session of 3 moths.

This study will predict those mothers at risks.

Dr. Shyamaly Sur stated as in Daily Express that restrict growth in embryos in early stage of pregnancy would relate to subsequent miscarriage.

This system will ensure those pregnancies at risk of miscarriage . The team measured the length, more then 500 single and twin embryos conceived through IVF during the first 12 week of pregnancy, a study revealed .
In Vitro Fertilisation ( IVF ) mothers could determine the exact gestational age. The baby’s full length from top to bottom was recorded from ultrasound scan.

Researchers found that 78 percent of single embryos pregnancies which miscarried were growth restricted, where as 98 percent of those haven’t miscarry were not growth stunted. Only 29 percent of poor growth leads to miscarriages.

Abnormality of the fetus or something in the environment of womb could be the reason as to why embryos show restricted growth in early stage of pregnancy. A study is going on to investigate miscarriages more in detail.

Sleep Apnea Treatment Helps Diabetes and Blood Pressure

A study has been carried out to check effect of sleep apnea treatment on blood pressure and diabetes. The study was done only on men. Experts found that blood pressure lowered in men who were treated with positive airway pressure. Study result is available online at Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine

All kinds of blood pressure patients are expected to be benefited including patients of chronic diseases, according to Dr Bharati Prasad - head of research study. A prospective study on sleep apnea patients with other chronic diseases should be done.

The study was participated by 221 men who were diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea and also having type-II diabetes or high blood pressure. All the patients were treated with CPAP therapy i.e. positive airway pressure.

Systolic and diastolic blood pressure numbers were reduced at the beginning of the PAP therapy, and between 3 to 6 months afterward, and during the second follow-up period between 9 to 12 months later.

Systolic and diastolic pressure were reported lower after starting PAP therapy. The level further reduced after 3-6 months of the therapy and after 9-12 months.

Mapping of Breast Cancer May Lead to New Treatment

Scientists have claimed to finish mapping of genetic mutations in breast cancer. Genetic mutation is an important process in Cancer. Mapping of such process would give better understanding to develop more effective treatment. This study is likely going to change the current course of treatment.

The study has revealed some startling facts. One such finding is that genetic of one of the deadliest types of breast cancer is nearer to ovarian cancer than other breast cancer. Findings of the study have been published on Journal Nature.

The discovery is expected to benefit breast cancer patients very soon, said Dr Matthew Ellis. Dr Ellis, a co-leader of the study, is from Washington University School of Medicine. Triple negative breast cancer treatment would be better with less toxic chemotherapy.

The study also indicates sea-change in how differently cancer is being seen. Now it’s not just where tumor originated but understanding cancer cells at molecular level.

The study is the part of research project called Cancer Genome Atlas. The project is supervised by Dr Brad Ozenberger at National Institutes of Health. The project would provide drug companies a clear direction on which genetic mutation should be the target of their new drug.

There can be lot of information drug companies can use to design their treatment. For example, scientists may find a gene involved in immune system which ultimately help them understand as how cancer escapes body's immune system. Genome atlas has also revealed that drugs that block growth of new blood vessel can be useful against triple-negative breast cancer and ovarian cancer.

Blood Pressure Drugs Reduce PTSD Symptoms

Some blood pressure medicines have been found helpful in treating stress post trauma, says a research study.

PTSD or post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms were reduced when patients took medicines such as cozaar or diovan. Drugs of class Angiotensin 2 Receptor Blockers prevent action of receptors of angiotensin 2 enzyme.

The research outcome is significant one because it paves the way for new path to proceed on to develop treatment for PTSD. This is the first study that has linked blood pressure drug to psychological disorder such as PTSD. Dr Kerry Ressler is the author of the study. Dr Ressler is professor at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, psychiatry department.

Experts caution the result did not demonstrate cause of the effect, rather just establishes link. Also, a clinical trial would require to compare efficacy against placebo. The study has been published on reputed journal, Journal of Clinical Psychiatry.

check the study details here http://www.psychiatrist.com/ppp/login/login_check_1.asp?dest=/privatepdf/2006/v67n08/v67n0810.pdf

5,000 patients participated in study. All the patients had had severe PTSD symptoms because of traumatic incident such as sexual abuse, physical abuse or experiencing violent incidents, when the study was conducted.

500 out 5000 people were subject to one incident that left them traumatized. 180 people met conditions to be diagnosed with PTSD. 26 patients were already taking blood pressure drugs of either class ARB or ACE inhibitors.

Symptoms of PTSD are characterized by behavioral pattern such as avoidance, hyperarousal and intrusive thoughts. Occurrence of these symptoms was recorded to calculate score for PTSD symptom. Higher score indicate higher severity.

The score found reduced by 30% in patients who are on Angiotensin II Receptor Blockers or ACE inhibitors. To be specific, ACE inhibitors and ARB drugs lowered intrusive thoughts and hyperarousal. No change in score was reported for those who were taking other types of antihypertensive drugs.

Diabetes In Children, Difficult To Treat, Says Study

Some diseases were known as elderly diseases. Those diseases were blood pressure, heart attack, stroke and diabetes & its complications such as glaucoma. But this no longer remains truth for today. Cases of Diabetes in young adults are growing. According to a report, every year 4000 young people are diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in USA. Matter of concern for experts is diabetes is difficult to manage in young people with currently available diabetes drugs treatments.

The investigational study included 700 obese children. All the children were below 17 and diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. 46% diabetics did not respond to most effective treatment to maintain sugar level. Generic Glucophage  along with weight loss plan or Metformin with other diabetes drugs such as generic Avandia could not controlled sugar level in those patients. They all were then given insulin injection.

Conclusion of the study has been published on reputed online journal, New England Journal of Medicine. Study result was also discussed at Pediatric Academic Societies.

Check study here http://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa1109333

Little or nothing was known about which treatment should be used to address diabetes in youth because Diabetes was almost non-existent in children - according to Dr Lori Laffel. But now is different scenario. Dr Laffel is heading pediatrics department at Joslin Clinic. A group of experts at the clinic has conducted this study. Goal of the study was to see whether diabetes drug (with highest efficacy rate) and rigorous weight loss plan helps children to avoid insulin injection in order to maintain blood glucose level.

Outcome of the study was disappointing. Metformin (alone) did not work well in 52% patient and they had to take insulin injection. 47% people who received weight loss therapy with Metformin and 39% people with metformin plus avandia had to switch to insulin therapy respectively.

Taking Aspirin Daily Good for Bowel Cancer Patients

Research study has found reduction in death caused by bowel cancer if patient takes aspirin every day. The study result has been presented at British Journal of Cancer.

The study included examination of 4,500 patients of bowel cancer.

All patients were on aspirin 80mg tablet. Aspirin is analgesic pain killer and is usually prescribed to heart patients for daily use.

Despite positive result of aspirin's effect, experts are not ready to prescribe the drug to bowel cancer patients any time soon.

Plenty of research studies have found aspirin helpful in preventing cancers of initial stage. Recent findings have also backed result of previous studies - Aspirin could work well to prevent spread of cancer if included in cancer therapy.

However, grave side effects of Aspirin - such as internal bleeding and irritation in stomach - undermine its good effects, believes expert.

4,500 bowel cancer patients were inspected for almost 10 years. 25% of the patients were not taking aspirin, 25% patients started taking aspirin after diagnosis of bowel cancer and rest of the patients were on aspirin before and after they were diagnosed with cancer.

Patients were taking aspirin, post cardiovascular event, as a part of the treatment to prevent future heart disease and stroke.

Aspirin found to reduce bowel cancer death by 23% regardless of the time span aspirin was taken. Chances to die from bowel cancer were 30% less for those who took aspirin standard dose for 9 months after cancer diagnosis.

Administration of aspirin only after cancer diagnosis was more effective than taking aspirin before and after diagnosis. The reason assumed for this is that people who took aspirin before bowel cancer diagnosis might had stubborn tumor.

Dr Gerrit-Jan Liefers is lead author of the study. Dr Leifers is a scientist at Leiden University Medical Centre.

Usefulness of Testosterone Pellet Implant Therapy (Replacement Therapy)

Pellet therapy is almost a century old therapy. The therapy is about delivering hormones, identical to human hormones, in body by means of tiny pellets. However, it is not that much wide spread as FDA is consistantly not andorsing this therapy.

Approved Testosterone Implant Therapy

A testosterone hormone therapy (or androgen therapy) named as Testopel® was approved by FDA as a replacement therapy for treating testosterone deficiency. Testopel® pellet therapy rapidly became popular for its efficacy. It was approved by FDA for men only.

Usefulness of Testosterone

Testosterone is major androgen steroid hormone. In both males and females, testosterone is found to improve energy, lower anxiety, relieve stress and depression, improve brain functions such as concentration and memory. Since testosterone plays important role in female, the pellet implant found helpful in general vaginal disorders such as dryness. The therapy has good track record of treating migraine in men and headaches in female during period. Testosterone is vital for proportionate development of mental and physical health in both men and women.

Testosterone Pellet Implant Therapy

Testosterone pellet implant is believed to be helpful in treating erectile dysfunction with minimal side effects (no need to take viagra®). Low testosterone level is linked to Alzheimer's diseases. So, testosterone replacement therapy is likely to treat alzheimer's also.

Low testosterone adversely affects libido in men both men and women. Imbalance in testosterone level is usually found in obese. This is because body mass and fat mass are both monitored by level of testosterone.

How Testosterone Pellet Implant is Done?

Pellet implant is least painful invasive therapy. Testosterone is delivered by inserting pellets in upper side of hip. The part of insertion is numbed by giving local anesthesia. Pellets are of wheat bean size. The procedure can be carried out in-house.

Research Study on Pellet Implant Therapy

A reputed journal published research study which involved male patients who had had testosterone pellet therapy between 2003 to 2008. The study found 86% patients happy and satisfied with the improvement after receiving pellet implant therapy. More importantly, no patients were having side effects.

Study: Drugs from Credentialed Online Pharmacy are of Good Quality

Wall Street Journal has reviewed several documents which indicted two canadian citizens involved in importing fake breast cancer drug in U.S. This event has sparked debate on authenticity of generic drug bought from online pharmacies. Millions of Americans buy prescription generic drugs online to cut drug cost.

A latest research study by Roger Bate concluded that generics from internet pharmacies are of good quality if purchased from credentialed pharmacies. Mr Bate is lead author of the study who also happens to be influential expert on pharmaceutical counterfeiting at American Enterprise Institute.

A research study of 370 brand drugs ordered from online pharmacies concluded that Viagra purchased by Americans were not real Viagra, however, medicines were found to be authentic when credentialed by several organizations.

This led to author believed that such websites are sometimes, if not all the time, selling medicines of good quality.

FDA and pharmaceutical gianst are increasingly concerned on counterfeit drugs, they have warned againts purchasing poor quality drugs from online pharmacy saying that may put one's health at risk. The study result contradicts their concerns.

Groups who oppose online pharmacies cite several reasons to convince consumers not to order from online pharmacies. Some of the reasons are; pharmacies get away with your credit card details, buying without prescription is illegal, they don't ask for prescriptions.

Another study conducted in 2007 found only 6 percent patients buy medicines with prescriptions. But that seems to be another point that patients go for internet pharmacies.

Simple Way To Prevent Unintended Pregnancy

World Contraception day was on 22nd March. Many women in US is concerned on access to birth control contraception pills. Scientists have found feasible way to address the issue. They have found trivial change which would bring drastic change in unwanted pregnancy in USA.

Most of the health coverage in USA allow 3 months supply of contraceptive pills. Supply for more than 3 months won't be included in health coverage insurance plan. A study published on Obstetrics & Gynecology demonstrated that prescription of birth control pill for more than 3 months would significantly bring consistency in women to continue their birth control plan.

A research study conducted at New York family planning clinic proved that women are more likely to continue to take birth control pills if they are given long lasting supply of contraceptive pills. The research included 661 women of different ages. All the women were given option to go for 3 months supply or 7 months supply. 51% of women who opted 7 months supply had continued the pills after 6 months. And only 35% women of 3 months supply continued. This is not startling fact, in fact it is common sense. However, statistical data that back the claim is necessary to bring changes in insurance policy.

The reason of 3 months supply limit is that a pregnant women take visit to physician and that physician can know any sort of developing complications or side effects of the pill. However, the limit is seem to be problem as women stop taking pills when they run out of the pills.

Hope for Female Infertility, Unlimited eggs Can be Produced with Stem Cells

A study conducted by scientists at Harvard Uni concluded that women with fertility issues might be able to produce countless eggs. Not only that but study also suggested that older women could also have baby.
Scientists have claimed to derive stem cells from female ovaries. This development would enable a woman to conceive even after menopause.

It is generally believed that women lose their capability of getting pregnant as they grow older. An arrangement could be made where eggs of a young girl could be store in an account (sort of bank account) and be used later when respective girl becomes woman.

Dr. Jonathan Tilly, Massachusetts General Hospital, has led the study. Dr Tilly has demonstrated his study on Nature Medicine. This can be a major breakthrough for female infertility problems.

At present there is no promising treatment for female infertility. But based on this finding, more research and development can lead to permanent solution of infertility. It is noticed that the stem cells which were kept outside the body could produce eggs on their own.

Most of the couples are confused about time of pregnancy as women have been found reluctant to have kid because of several reasons such as career ambitions and financial instability.

Research Highlights

Dr Tilly and his teammates extracted stem cells from woman ovaries and injected them into germ cells i.e. female eggs (medically known oocytes).
Scientists churned out these stem cells with the help of antibodies which are located on proteins found on peripheral of these cells. The cells were given different color (fluorescent green) for easy monitoring of process which involved those cells.
The cells, combined with ovarian tissues, were grafted below mice skin. After fourteen days the stem cells produced eggs. Some eggs were with fluorescent green color which showed that the eggs were produced by stem cells which were extracted from female ovaries.

Researches in future may reverse biological process.

Research on Pancreatic Cells Offer New Hope Diabetes Treatment

Researchers were glad to know that stem cells might be able to perform the functions of pancreatic cells in certain instances. This can be highly beneficial in lowering the risk of diabetes in one. After studying about pancreatic agenesis in detail, experts are of the opinion that the gene GATA 6 has a key role to play here.

It is a rare disorder to be born without a pancreas known as pancreatic agenesis. Pancreas has a chief role to play in one’s body from supporting the digestion process to the hormonal functions. The exocrine and the endocrine process are the two significant roles of the pancreas.

In case of one suffering from pancreatic agenesis, it has been observed that fifteen among twenty- seven people experience a mutation in this gene GATA 6. By comprehending with this relationship, the researchers seem to be assertive about treating diabetes 1 in one by producing beta cells in them.

The Peninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry has been happy to know and understand this relationship as it might support their treatment towards the treatment of diabetes.

Diabetes has been one of the most common and detrimental disorder that mankind is suffering from these days. Many diabetes medicines are there in market. Unlike diabetes 2, diabetes 1 is an auto- immune disorder that kills the beta cells of the pancreas in one impeding many crucial functions in the body. This makes it increasingly necessary for one to treat this disorder as soon as possible.

Tax on Sugar Beverages will Help Check Diabetes and Obesity

Nowadays not only Obesity but many other risks like diabetes, stroke, and numerous heart ailments are due to sugar based drinks. A study conducted at University California, San Francisco (UCSF) has brought statics to fore. The study proposes a penny-per-ounce tax on sweetened beverages.

A study on American residents showed that around 13.8 billion gallons of such sugar beverages is consumed every year, and a rapid increase in the number of diabetes and obesity cases. Control in heart disease occurrences and stokes will be balanced by penny-per-ounce tax on sugary drinks over the decade. It will also help prevent diabetes.

It would not only save $17 billion but help public expenses over such health problems in coming decade.

An article published in January issue of Health Affairs highlighted, being a part of chief Obesity Prevention strategies in 2009, the U.S Centers for Disease Control and Prevention had already recommended to lower the intake of sugar beverages. California and New York are currently working on this strategy of tax. That will bring down the consumption value of such beverages.

Damage Of Lungs Due To Blood Pressure Drugs To Smokers

A research from Johns Hopkins says that blood pressure drugs, which is commonly consumed by the patients, can cause lung damages to smokers, with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease which ranks third in the cause of death, in our nation.

The researchers first tried on mice, next is human. Clinical trails which includes C.O.P.D , chronic emphysema and bronchitis.

The Drug called  Losartan which is also known as Cozaar , has saved lungs from damaged, since two months of damage due to cigarette smoke. It highlights lungs tissue breakdown, airway wall thickening , inflammation and lung over expansion which cause in breathe.

12 million Americans are suffering from C.O.P.D and there is no cure for lung damage. Only few medical attention has provided to shortness of breath, coughing, and mucus production and surgery.

Senior investigator Dr. Enid Neptune, a Hopkins pulmonologist and an associate Professor who did research with said " Because these drugs are already approved for use in the United States as safe and effective treatments for hypertension, incorporating them into our treatment regime for C.O.P.D would be quote rapid".

Treatment for lung damage in smokers will be the achievement, said the study of researchers in Journal of Clinical Investigation. When Hopkins research found out that same drug benefits Marfan Syndrome which cause a genetic mutation and weakness arteries, the investigation started.

HPV Vaccine May Reduce Cervical Cancer Rates in Developing Countries

Human papillomavirus (HPV) is a set of over 150 viruses; know as papilloma viruses, which encourages a certain type of skin growths. Human papilloma viruses (HPV) are often connected to certain kind of cancer, also known as, carcinogenic HPVs or “high-risk," oncogenic.

Out of 150 types of HPV, 40 types of HPV are contagious, and can be transmitted from person to person during sexual interaction. The transmission of HPV can take place by genitals or oral, even if usually HPV’s is passed on sexually. It is studied that several Human papilloma virus (HPV) appear without any indications and goes away without any treatment.

The major cause of cervical cancer is high-risk HVP infection. More or less all the women have HPV infection, at some point of time, but only few develop into cervical cancer. Immune system, nearly in all the women, is suppresses or reduces HPV. Only a persistent HPV infection leads to the development of cervical cancer.

As per a study, giving human papilloma virus (HPV) vaccine dose for a longer period of time may establish an effectual way to formulate the vaccine to be obtainable to more and more women’s in the underprivileged nations.
According to the researcher, different schedules of dosing vaccine where used to conclude the treatment in the developing country.

The WorldHealth Organization (WHO) has accepted this programmatic limitation that should be considered to be initiated in the national Human papilloma virus (HPV) vaccination programs. Neuzil's team has announced that, delivering Human papilloma virus (HPV) vaccine in flexible timetable, will lets countries to  reduces the cost and increase the availability of vaccination  programs.
