Baby is Fatter from Mothers With Higher Glucose Level

Recently researchers have found that babies, born to mothers with Gestational diabetes, are fatter. Gestational diabetes is health condition where women, without diabetes, show higher level of glucose in blood during pregnancy. Physicians at Garvan Institute (Australia, Sydney) conducted a study on mice to find out health condition of offspring when sugar level is not maintained or maintained poorly.

It was also noticed that food intake of such babies are lesser and rate of metabolism is also lower. This condition prevents glucose consumption in body system and makes baby fat. Also, offspring from such mothers gets fat faster even with normal diet.

Body system of such babies tend to produce less insulin, as well as to utilize available insulin. This poses great threat to develop first stage of diabetes in kids.

Doctors strongly believe that there is nexus between sugar level of mother (during pregnancy) and how metabolic system of a kid is shaping up in adult life. Abnormal sugar level of mothers is believed to the reason of greater weight, higher fat (because of incapable body system to absorb fat).
