Drug for Premature Ejaculation in Japan

American pharmaceutical giant Apricus Bioscience has been given approval by Japanese Drug Patent Office for a drug that treats premature ejaculation. This drug uses vasoactive prostaglandin E.

This patent would help the company to use the hormone for the treatment of premature ejeculation. Same company also has a drug, called Vitaros, in Japanese market that treats erectile dysfunction. Unlike other blockbuster erectile dysfunction medicines like Cialis & Viagra, Vitaros is in cream form. Vitaros, approved in Japan and Canada, is erectile dysfunction treatment cream. As per company's announcement, premature ejaculation medicine will also be in cream form.

So far, two single studies and one double studies have been conducted by the company. Studies have shown positive result and it is most likely that the experimented hormone (vasoactive prostaglandin E) will be the next treatment of premature ejaculation.

Along with Japan, the company has received nod in other countries such as Singapore and Australia for the same medicine which treats premature ejaculation.
