Can Cannabis cause sexual dysfunction?

Dr Rany Shamloul, a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology has recently revealed that Cannabis has a negative effect on sexual function. The worst part is that it has been noticed that young and active people have been consuming it as they are unaware of the impact that it has.

It was analyzed after studying the research on the animals and vitrostudies which proved that they truly could lead to sexual dysfunction.

Contradictory news had been stated in 1982 in The Journal of Psychoactive drugs that cannabis is a love drug agreeing to the research of scientists who said that Cannabis can augment the sexual desire in one. This study was also proved after the research being actually carried on men where 75% of the men said that they were sexually active after the consumption of the drug.

Today in the same edition it has reported that there is twice chance of erectile dysfunction with the intake of cannabis. It also been stated that cannabis has long term adverse effects on one. It was found that cannabis contains the ingredients of marijuana which itself has dangerous effect on one’s sexual desire. Though all these researches contradict each other, at present we can avoid cannabis as a measure of safety.

Hence there ahs been need to spread awareness about this adverse effect on cannabis in schools and colleges. This can help us secure the future generation from sexual dysfunction. People who are suffering from erectile dysfunction can use medicines such as Kamagra, Viagra (generic Viagra) and Cialis. However there is no drug for femal sexual dysfunction.

According to Dr. Shamloul, it is a global illicit drug. Beware!
